The Mariama Health Center
Healthcare for Women & Children in Bibemi
Fr. Daniele Criscione, PIME U.S. Mission Center Director, together with Sr. Lucia Cavalo, MDI-PIME Sister, introduces us to the Mariama Health Center in rural Bibemi, in the Far North Region of Cameroon. This health center is one of the only healthcare resources for many in the surrounding area. PIME U.S. Supporters helped to fund the purchase of maternity care resources for the center including an ultrasound machine, incubator, and a birthing room.
Solar Panel System for the Mariama Health Center
Fr. Daniele shows us the control panel for the solar panel system that was funded by our PIME Mission Development Project Supporters.
This renewable energy source system will allow the complicated and life-saving resources of the health center to continue to operate for years to come, despite the center’s remote location.
MDP Medical Support - Joseph's Story
Joseph was in a car accident while running errands for his parish, and was left unable to walk without crutches due to an infection following emergency surgery. An infection of the supports inserted into his leg meant that he was at great risk of an infection.
Thanks to the help of PIME MDP Medical Supporters, Joseph received another operation with antibiotics and is now able to walk unassisted!
Traveling Around Bibemi
Equality & Independence for Women in Bibemi
Fr. Daniele and Bro. Alessandro Albani, PIME, meet with Elizabeth, a woman who will benefit from a PIME Mission Development Project that aims to give more freedom to women in the Bibemi area.
Sr. Lucia Cavallo, MDI-PIME Sister, has purchased land and equipment for these women to harvest peanuts and sell them in the local market to become more self-sufficient. This important project is ongoing. Click the button below to learn more.
Storage and Cereals for Poor Families in Bibemi
Sr. Lucia Cavallo, MDI-PIME Sister in Cameroon, coordinated the purchase of cereals when they are cheaper to be stored in the village for the rainy season - when prices of foods go up and travel becomes very difficult in this part of the country.
PIME U.S. Supporters helped to fund this storage of food to be given to those with disabilities, the elderly, and poor families in the village when they need it most.
Donkeys for Students to Pay for Their Education
Sr. Lucia Cavallo, MDI-PIME Sister, coordinated the purchase of 20 donkeys and the equipment so that students in Bibemi can plow the fields to earn money for their education. Thanks to PIME U.S. Supporters of this PIME Mission Development Project, the students in Bibemi were able to purchase twice the original amount of donkeys, and will be able to raise more money for their education!
